Ubisoft in their newest iteration of Assassins Creed has made the greatest samurai in Feudal Japan a Sub-Saharan African. Or in other words, Ubisoft meet Netflix.
While several months ago, I covered the fact that there were African Americans that were infuriated that the smash TV show Shogun lacked diversity – a la – sub-Saharan Africans in 16th Century Japan, Ubisoft is here to save the day and insert modern American social fetishes into Japanese history.

But why oh why am I not surprised? It’s not like this is the first time that we have seen wholesale cultural appropriation by such rabidly ideological actors in the media before, right? Right?

Either way, thanks ever so much for sticking with me. My output has been low this month as I said because of my latest brush with COVID, but I am on the mend and should be back to full steam this month.
Hope you are well and see you this Sunday.
